| Description of mosaic in text: | 聽 The walls were lined with marble to a height of several toises[one toise = two metres], reigned over by an immense vine formed of gold.聽 Above one sees little pieces 鈥 golds, greens, reds, blues, whites, which represent all the known countries.聽 The Kaaba is placed above the mihrab and other regions are depicted, to the right and left, with trees remarkable for the fruits or flowers they produce, and other objects 鈥β Matching drapes line the walls at the point where the vine is, above which are gold pieces.聽 |
