Stonewall Proud Employers Accreditation

The University submitted its first application to the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index (now the Proud Employers Accreditation) in 2019, with the aim of becoming a top 100 Employer by 2025. This was achieved in 2024, with the ¹ú²úÄÚÉä being ranked 30 in the Stonewall top 100 employers list.

is an LGBTQ+ rights charity based in the UK. Named after the Stonewall riots in New York’s Greenwich village in 1969, the charity is now the largest LGBTQ+ charity in Europe. Stonewall provides help and guidance aids for LGBTQ+ people and organisations, including guides on and .

Proud Employers Accreditation

We are committed to submitting an application to the Proud Employers Programme (formerly the Workplace Equality Index) every four years.

In 2024, we were ranked 30th in the . We will apply again in 2028. In the meantime, we are progressing actions on our institutional LGBTQ+ Action Plan to further advance LGBTQ+ inclusion at Sussex.
