Research

My research aims to identify how and why certain cities develop narratives of receptiveness towards migrants, asylum seekers and refugees.

I focus both on narratives of migration from above (by local institutions) and from below (by migrants themselves), using in-depth semistructured interviews and participant observations as research methods.

The case studies of my investigation are Bologna, Italy and Brighton and Hove, UK.

I am currently working on an article on racism in supposedly 'tolerant' environments.
