Spring teaching
On this module, you’ll learn how to carry out research. You’ll:
- understand the relevance and importance of alternative ways of thinking in the social sciences
- study qualitative and quantitative research approaches
- build the study skills needed to manage and carry out a research project
- undertake empirical and theoretical research
- develop a strong foundation for your dissertation.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 117 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
