Introduction to Quantitative Methods (532X8)
15 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Autumn teaching
This module is designed for students with little or no background in statistics.
You’ll be introduced to the key ideas behind quantitative analysis in the social sciences, and we’ll help you build the practical skills you need to interpret and carry out commonly used statistical tests.
We’ll cover when and how to use different types of analysis, and you’ll get hands-on experience with core methods such as t-tests, ANOVA, and correlation.
Alongside lectures, you’ll take part in practical workshops using SPSS, a widely used software package for running statistical analyses, so you can apply what you learn in a supportive, step-by-step way.
