Climate change: Impacts and Adaptation (838F8)
30 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Spring teaching
On this module, you’ll explore critical questions about climate change adaptation, such as:
- What are the impacts of exceeding 1.5°C warming?
- How should countries adapt, and who should bear the costs?
From a global perspective, we’ll ask how the world is adapting to climate change, using ideas from different fields of study. We’ll focus on fairness and justice while exploring:
- how climate change impacts societies at different levels of global warming, and the risks these changes bring
- how decisions are made in the face of uncertainty, alongside practical strategies for adapting in areas such as health, water, and ecosystems
- the key policies and actions that support adaptation, including the role of international organisations like the UN, climate finance, and efforts to address loss and damage.
