Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll explore urgent questions about environment and development within a global context.

Questions are being asked about:

  • whether current forms of economic and political organisation in international society are capable of responding to the challenge of environmental sustainability
  • whether we need to rethink ideas of growth and progress.

You’ll:

  • expand your conceptions of the environment
  • reflect on theoretical and empirical issues linked to environmental (in)justice and development
  • evaluate alternative possibilities for the future.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 30 hours of contact time and about 270 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27.
