Professional Placement Year (A&F) (N1627)
120 credits, Level 5
Autumn and spring teaching
On this module, you’ll build on key course aims while enhancing your employability.
Taylor (2003) describes the aim of graduate recruitment as “reaching that elusive creature – the well qualified, well-motivated, intelligent, energetic, mobile graduate with management potential”. This module helps you apply your learning in context, develop new skills and prepare for your career. It also supports your personal and professional growth through your fourth year and beyond.
Where possible, particularly in fields such as marketing, accountancy and HRM, you’ll be encouraged to become a student member of a relevant professional institute. This will help you connect aspects of professional development with your learning experience.
Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 1200 hours of work. This breaks down into about 8 hours of contact time and about 1192 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
We鈥檒l make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
