Southeast England Field Class (F8515)
15 credits, Level 5
Spring teaching
Globalisation suggests that distance matters less and that anywhere is within reach. But overseas field teaching and air travel have high environmental costs. This field‑course module responds by focusing on the geographies close to the university.
The ‘local’ becomes both a way to understand wider global processes and a subject of study on its own. Through online seminars and nearby fieldwork, you’ll explore the varied landscapes of Sussex – rural, urban, human and physical.
You’ll study three linked themes:
- continuity and change in urban forms
- rural heritage and environmental politics
- coasts, cliffs and conservation.
