Staying in our short-stay accommodation
You don’t have to miss out on social life as a commuter student, or worry about making that last train home. You can book short-stay accommodation on campus and stay in one of our Northfield residences.
Whether you’d like to stay for the whole of Freshers’ Week or simply need a place to recharge after a day of studying, our short-stay accommodation gives you the flexibility to make the most of student life without the stress of travelling home.
At £55 per night, our rooms offer an affordable and convenient way to stay on campus.

What’s included in your stay
What you’ll get:
- an en-suite room in one of our eight-room Northfield flats
- a spacious shared kitchen
- bedding and towels.
What you’ll need to bring:
- toiletries
- cooking utensils
- anything else you might need during your stay.
Food on campus
Rather than bringing your own cooking utensils, we’d suggest you choose from our wide range of affordable food options across campus, including our Sussex Saver hot lunches and breakfasts in Eat Central.
If you choose to stay during the exam period, enjoy our free breakfasts to help fuel those long study days.

Price and booking
Our short-stay rooms are priced at £55 per night.
You may stay a minimum of one night and a maximum of 14 nights.

1. Booking Confirmation and Payment
Bookings are confirmed upon receipt of a completed booking form and payment. Full payment is required when booking the room. Accepted payment methods include credit/debit card.2. Cancellation Policy
Rooms may be cancelled up to 48 hours before check-in for a full refund. No-shows or cancellations within 24 hours will not be refunded.3. Check-In and Check-Out Times
Check-in is between 3pm-11pm and check-out by 9.30am.4. Guest Conduct & Rules
Students are expected to act respectfully toward staff, other students, and university property.
- Ensuite rooms are available in flats of eight ensuite bedrooms
- Flats are mixed gender
- Rooms are only available for registered Sussex students
- Over 18’s only
- Rooms are available for single occupancy only
- Pets are not allowed to stay unless they are certified companion pets and noted on booking forms
- Maximum 14-night stay
The university reserves the right to refuse service or evict occupants engaging in disruptive or illegal behaviour without refund.
5. Liability
Any damage to university property caused by guests may incur charges.6. Data Protection
The university complies with data protection laws. Personal information collected will only be used for booking management.8. Force Majeure
The university is not liable for cancellations due to events beyond its control, such as natural disasters or government actions.
